Aurora Glass Igloo – Poikkijärvi, Kiruna
Our magical Aurora Glass Igloos are located in the peaceful village of Poikkijärvi, just outside Kiruna – right next to the frozen Torne River.
Here, you can experience the magic of the Arctic sky from the comfort of your bed. The panoramic glass walls and ceiling give you an unforgettable view of the northern lights in winter and the soft glow of the midnight sun in summer.
Each igloo is built for comfort and simplicity, featuring Scandinavian design, heating, storage for your belongings, and a cozy sleeping area with a river-facing view.
All guests have access to our nearby Guest Lounge, located just a short walk from the igloos, where you’ll find modern bathrooms with hot showers, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and sofa lounge
We currently offer three types of Aurora Glass Igloos:
- Waterfront Glass Igloo – located right by the Torne River with open Arctic views, includes pickup & drop-off, breakfast buffet, and sauna access.
- Aurora Glass Igloo with Transfer – situated within the camp area, includes pickup & drop-off in the Kiruna area, breakfast buffet, and sauna access.
- Aurora Glass Igloo without Transfer – located in the same peaceful camp area, includes breakfast buffet and sauna access, with optional transfer available upon request.
All igloos are allergy-friendly and include Wi-Fi access (no TV – we encourage you to enjoy the nature and northern lights instead!).

Experience the Northern Lights from Your Igloo
The sky above Kiruna is painted with the Aurora Borealis from September to April, and for eight golden weeks in summer, the Midnight Sun shines all night long.
From your Aurora Glass Igloo at Aurora River Camp, you can experience both — lying comfortably in bed as the Arctic sky glows above you. Step outside to build a fire, enjoy a cozy barbeque dinner, and stargaze from one of our firepits as the Aurora dances over the frozen Torne River.
During winter, when the river freezes solid, guests can even walk across the ice to visit the world-famous Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi — a true Lapland adventure.
In addition to aurora watching, our guests can join a range of Arctic activities such as snowmobiling, dog sledding, moose spotting, and guided tours that start right near the camp.
